Colchester Zoological Society, set in 60 acres of parkland and lakes, is home to over 150 different species from around the world. Entry to the Tiptree museum is free. For your guidance, a quick visit may take just fifteen minutes, but it’s more usual to allow 30-45 minutes with perhaps an extra 10 minutes to watch the video display that explains how the fruit is grown and illustrates how traditional preserve making continues to this day in Tiptree. Coupled with a trip to the tea room this makes a perfect day out

The East Anglian Railway Museum is an open air site based at Chappel and Wakes Colne Railway station. 

The entire site covering over 10 acres forms the Museum, which is made up of Station Buildings, Signal Boxes, Goods Shed and Restoration Shed and much more.

Courtyard stores is a friendly, well stocked shop just a short walk/drive from the centre of the village with ample on site parking. Opening hours are Mon-Sat 7am-7pm and Sun 8am-5pm with an outreach post office 2pm-4pm on Tuesdays.
